WHAT TO EXPECT:
The Project Engineer will work as part of a team, led by a Lead Engineer. The Project Engineer will support the development of both 8 Speed PHEV & MHEV automatic transmissions, working closely with the Engine, E/ Machine & Inverter Teams to develop & release a transmission that meets the transmission system requirements. The Project Engineer will work with suppliers to ensure the parts are manufactured to specification and will support prototype vehicle builds to ensure the correct assembly of these components. The Project Engineer will also ensure the appropriate testing is carried out to validate the design.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
• Support the specification of subcomponents of the Automatic Transmission.
• Support the E/ machine & Inverter Teams, ensuring any design changes are un
• Develop gearbox design n-line with vehicle packaging constraints.
• Support Ancillary development such as Torsional Vibration Absorbers, Heatshields and Breathers.
• Provide support to vehicle builds (virtual and real) to resolve issues.
• Lead the generation of DV procedures and regularly update the DVP status in conjunction with the vehicle test team.
• Develop work plans in line with PCDS principles to achieve timely delivery of the commodity.
• Assist in the development of Failure Mode Avoidance tools such as DFMEA, etc.
• Ensure S,T & Releases are completed on time.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Essential :
• Experience of Powertrain systems.
• A good mechanical engineering background.
• An innovative and thorough approach to solving problems.
• A positive constructive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Educated to degree level.
Desirable:
• Knowledge of automatic transmissions would be an advantage.
• Understanding of high voltage systems & how the function.
• Experience of engineering mechanical components and systems.
• Familiarity of packaging issues.
• Liaison with internal departments, (Driveline, Engines, Exhaust and Electrical)
• Good communication and presentation skills.
