Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday

Location: Hybrid role with up to 3 days a week working in our VHQ, Crawley West Sussex

Contract: Permanent

The strategy team at Virgin Atlantic is responsible for understanding the internal and external dynamics that most impact the business, and to develop options and recommend actions that strengthen our strategic position. You will be engaging with a wide range of people, across all areas of the business, while working to shape and deliver the priorities of Virgin Atlantic's CEO and Leadership Team. The strategy team at Virgin Atlantic sits within Corporate Development - alongside sustainability and government affairs - reporting to the CEO.

Day to day

Lead on generating strategic insights and actionable recommendations
- Research and analyse areas of uncertainty or strategic relevance (internal or external), drawing on lateral thinking and intellectual curiosity to assemble convincing narratives from un-structured data and sources
- Confidently structure and integrate quantitative and qualitative datapoints, applying appropriate level of detail and analysis relevant to importance of content
- Own and refine business case models as needed, including developing a deep understanding of the inputs (with benchmarks), sensitivities and outputs
- Develop and maintain knowledge across emerging themes, staying up to date on industry news and competitor activity - persuasively sifting out signals from the noise
- Examples of focus topics includes aviation sustainability and decarbonisation, industry consolidation, airport development, operating model and governance
Support delivery of major programmes and priorities
- Build strong working relationships with wide range of contacts across Virgin Atlantic
- Engage in internal and external working groups, forums, and governance bodies with enthusiasm and a focus on outcomes
- Manage project governance and admin, prepare meeting agendas, and share ideas with relevant stakeholder following a thought-through process
Support other high-priority work including annual planning cycle and ad hoc strategy presentations
- Deliver aspects of the annual planning cycle, including creating output materials for multiple audiences
- Enthusiastically and constructively articulate ideas to create value across any part of the business
- Deliver right-first-time outputs supporting projects or BAU work across strategy and/or corporate development team, depending on business need, including content for Board and LT
- Opportunity to get involved in financial & business case modelling to support commercial negotiations on sustainability-related contracts and investment decisions

About you

Are you excited about applying your curiosity and restless drive for results to novel and ambiguous problems? Do you have strong strategic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to test and prove your hypotheses by drawing on a range of analytical, modelling, and financial skills? Alongside that we're looking for:
- Ability to distil complex arguments and analysis into simple conclusions, verbally and in well-crafted slides- Experience conducting complex financial modeling or transaction-related modelling- Structured thinking, able to balance a wide perspective with a firm grasp of detail- Ability to translate structured thinking into self-guided work and project planning- Strong interpersonal skills - approachable, friendly and a constructive debater of ideas- Comfortable with unpredictability, changing priorities and focus
