Team information:

You will be joining our highly successfully Systems Engineering area, which has been a key supplier to the Government defence departments and major Industrial Partners for over three decades.
Supportability engineering focusses on the whole life of a product or service. We aim to influence design to make it more reliable, maintainable and sustainable through a range of analytical and practical engineering techniques. We identify what is required to support the system in operation so that it can sustain high levels of reliability and we develop monitoring strategies to ensure that system remain operational for their intended life.
Our Supportability Engineering team of highly experienced and skilled engineers specialise in developing real world support solutions for all kinds of systems from submarines to offshore wind turbines and many more. We collaborate with our Clients' to understand the causes and impact of system failure so that we can help them make better design decisions and develop optimum maintenance packages.

What you'll be doing at Frazer-Nash?

You will be working on a variety of projects and technologies, each with their own unique requirements which bring their own constraints and challenges. Working across industries and domains helps us provide our clients with a balanced solution, drawing best practice from other areas and applying the rigor of standardisation between domains.

As a Supportability Engineer, you will:
  • develop skills to identify and analyse why systems fail;
  • adopt a risk-based approach to focus resources towards the most critical system elements;
  • analyse what is required to sustain a system throughout its working life to disposal; and
  • establish the most cost effective and efficient strategies for maintenance and support.

You will work with, and learn from, colleagues from a range of technical backgrounds including engineers, project managers, economists and world leading experts in the fields of defence, renewable technologies, nuclear energy, autonomy, space, asset management, data & cyber.

We are interested in hearing from excellent candidates who hold or are working towards an Engineering or Systems Engineering degree level qualification 2:1 or above, that also have an interest in design and how things work. Successful candidates are likely to be people whom:

  • take a helicopter view of problems and situations;
  • can make decisions based on the evidence provided (even if its not complete);
  • enjoy seeing tangible results from their engineering decisions.

The nature of our work means that we sometimes require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all our employees to gain appropriate security clearance. We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will decide if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application.
