Job Summary:

Acting as a technical subject matter expert provide technical back up to the field based service engineers, tackling problem devices and systems whilst maintaining the highest level of knowledge on company equipment. To identify training needs and deliver both classroom and field training when required. To supervise, plan and implement Warranty/Retrofits repairs and/or modification and/or maintenance schedules within the timescale and to acceptable standards of quality.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As the subject matter expert provide guidance, support and coaching to the field service technicians to effectively enable them to conduct root analysis and corrective action for problem devises in the field.
  • To investigate, diagnose and repair on any faults on any equipment as contracted to the company.
  • Keep abreast of current technical development and policy changes in order to provide the highest standards of support for field engineers and customers.
  • To effect field coaching/training ensuring the sessions are well planned and carried out efficiently and effectively, maintaining records of the training and supplying feed back to the Team Leader and the Operations Manager.
  • To effectively plan warranty/retrofit and/or modifications by liaison with customers, workshop, team leaders and/or other company departments or OEM's.
  • To investigate and prepare reports and recommendations on potential or actual problems; compile reports as required by company management.
  • To assist with the installation or commissioning of any equipment installed by the company or others as required.
  • To ensure that all relevant working practices comply with the statutory Health and Safety at Work Act and with the customer regulations applicable and audits are carried out and recorded as evidence.
  • To carry out repairs to module level on site and in the workshop.
  • To undertake tasks normally carried out by Service Engineers when required.
  • To assist with stock control or fault control if deemed necessary by company management.
  • In carry out all tasks in accordance with company health and safety, quality standards and procedures.
  • To aim at attaining standards of quality compatible by ISO 9002.
  • To maintain the highest level of product and PC knowledge, be aware if any technical developments and modifications and ensure that relevant information is distributed as appropriate.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the Team Leader or Manager from time to time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Qualifications

  • A recognized Engineering qualification; HNC or equivalent in electronics or mechanical engineering. IT Networking qualification desirable.
  • 18th edition (second amendment)
  • City and Guilds 2391 test and inspection or equivalent is required.
  • Pat test would be desirable.

Skills, Knowledge and experience

  • Proven track record of undertaking a field service technician role within AFC and strong subject matter expertise in company equipment
  • Able to problem solve and critically assess root cause of failures
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet and achieve stringent SLA's and system availability criteria.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, meeting the company values at all time.
  • The ability to develop and analysis reports and CAR's
  • Recognises as a subject matter expert and go to person to resolve complex issues
  • Prior experience of coaching and mentoring other effectively is desirable
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages with intermediate level Excel required.
