Job Description

This is a really exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development or Marketing professional to lead a BD & Marketing team within an outstanding IP specialist law firm based in central London. The role would suit someone who is currently in a 'Head of' or Director position and looking for a new challenge or alternatively someone who is an experienced BD or Marketing Manager who is ready to step up to Director level.

The Business Development and Marketing Director has primary responsibility for the business development and marketing activities of the firm. The Director is the primary contact point for the firm's BD partner, Managing Committee and individual partners in developing and sustaining all firm business development and marketing.

This is a hands on role where the Director will take initiative and handle a varied workload which includes: acting as a firm ambassador at networking events; creating, implementing and delivering on BD and marketing strategies; managing social media channels; coordinating tender opportunities; leading the firm's business development strategies; driving cross selling opportunities through internal campaigns and coaching fee earners on best practice.

The Director meets with the Managing Committee and the BD partner on a regular basis and attends all practice groups meetings and other committee meetings as required where the Director leads on business development and marketing matters. The Director reports directly into the Managing Committee with a functional reporting line into the firm's BD partner. Some key responsibilities of

Business Development

Oversees, assists, monitors and coordinates all BD activities;

Works with the MC and BD partner to draft the firm's annual business development plan, taking input from the wider partnership group. Supports on the delivery of the annual business plan and sets quarterly objectives and communicates to the wider business;

Works with Practice Group Heads to develop annual departmental business plans, ensures the plans are tied to the firm's strategic business plan, ensures delivery and sets quarterly objectives;

Marketing

Working with the MC and BD partner to formulate and deliver external marketing strategies and ensuring an integrated strategic approach to marketing communications;

Overall responsibility for the Directories and Awards processes;

Seeking opportunities for firm profiling through different forms of marketing and advertisements;

Other

Supervises the Business Development and Marketing Manager and the Business Development and Marketing Executive;

Meets regularly with team to assess performance and manage workloads, ongoing project prioritisation and resolve coverage needs;

Supports team training and development objectives;

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelors degree

Five years+ of Business Development and Marketing experience at senior level in a professional services environment;

Knowledge or experience in the IP or legal industries a bonus;

Demonstrated background of accomplishment;

Demonstrated leadership, resourcefulness, problem-solving capabilities and ability to take the initiative and drive things forward;

Prior supervisory experience required;
