MRC Funding OfficerSalary: £25,702, UKRI - Band CHours: Full time or Part time (minimum 30 hours per week)Contract Type: Open EndedLocation: Polaris House, Swindon, Wiltshire.Closing date: 8th January 2023Interview date: 27th January 2023 - Interviews will be in personAbout the role:As a Funding Officer you will provide administrative support to the MRC's Boards and Panels team which delivers funding through MRC research funding calls. As a successful candidate you will work closely with other administrative support colleagues, as well as wider team members, in a supportive and collaborative environment to contribute to team objectives. You will contribute to the MRC mission as a funder improving human health through world class medical research, by helping to deliver MRC funding.

What the role will include:

  • Respond to questions from the external research community through a shared mailbox
  • Develop and manage timelines for application processing
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets of funding applications for application processing, adhering to specific policies and processes
  • Ensure that applications are processed within liaising with MRC Programme Managers, Funding Managers and Funding Administrators
  • Produce agendas and supporting documents for funding meetings
  • Act as point of contact for MRC Board and Panel members throughout the funding process
  • Co-ordinate attendance at funding meetings including applicants, Board and Panel members and MRC staff
  • Attend funding meetings (in person and virtually) to provide administrative support, manage scores and logistics.

You will need:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience of managing multiple activities to tight deadlines
  • Experience in delegation and upward management
  • Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with a range of colleagues and external contacts
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Experience in working independently and proactively
  • Resilience, working in a flexible way and managing change
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Literacy and numerical skills - e.g.4/C Grade in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

The role is based in the Swindon office however MRC are trialling hybrid office-home working. The role also offers:
