The successful engineer should be self-assured in their abilities and driven to perform to the highest standards at all times. You'll be able to design mechanical systems for a variety of building types. To see the project through from start to finish, you'll need excellent communication skills. An understanding of industry-specific software is advantageous.

Requirements for a Mechanical Design Engineer include the following:

  • A mechanical engineering or building services degree is ideal.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in the building services industry is required.
  • Capable of mechanical system technical design.
  • Understanding of the RIBA Work Schedule.
  • Hevacomp, AutoCad, and IES experience.
