Role: Activities Coordinator
Location: Immacolata House, Langport
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - 9.00am-17.00pm - Including alternate weekends
Salary: £10.25 (+ £2 p/h overtime)
An exciting opportunity for a varied and rewarding role at our beautiful care home in Langport.
As the Activities Coordinator you will have the mindset of wanting to make a difference. You will provide meaningful, fun and varied activities in all shapes and sizes. An important part of your role is to get to know the residents, their families and friends to create tailored and personalised activities to fulfil their needs. Your primary focus is to promote and ensure a stimulating environment in which the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs are met for every resident living with us. You will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to have occupation and access to social activity.
We are looking for someone motivational and personable who genuinely cares about the lives of other people. Someone who is a strong team player who will strive to provide residents with the best quality care for every part of every day.
This is an exciting role where each day is different, one day you may be assisting someone to bake an apple crumble, and the next you may be hosting a celebration for the Queen's birthday with bubbly and canapes for all to enjoy!
Duties include:
Working closely with the care team
Keeping records and care plans up to date appropriate to your role
Ensuring dignity and respect towards residents at all times
Communicating with residents in the way that they need
On occasion driving company vehicles
An example of what you could be doing:
Engaging on a one to one level with each resident, this might be; completing a crossword together, communicating through the power of music or helping a resident to fold their laundry whilst having a chatter
Setting up smaller group activities, finding common interests amongst the residents, this might be; flower arranging, playing a game of cards or quite simply having a pie and a pint reminiscing about the old times
Hosting themed days and events, this might be; having a summer BBQ, arranging a Christmas party or St Patricks Day
Community engagement, this might be; connecting with the local dementia friends club, finding a local historian to provide a talk at the home or connecting the residents to the local community based on their hobbies, interests and needs
Ideally we are looking for someone who has an NVQ level 2 or who is keen to work towards achieving this.
