Digital Skills are working with a growing tech company that builds and provides tools and services to various end clients. The company specializes in designing, building and continuously improving data-enabling products. We are currently recruiting for a DBA who will be responsible for the reliability and performance aspects of multiple cloud Production and Non-Production databases supporting critical applications. The role requires some experience working with PostgreSQL.

You will be working in a growing and experienced team consisting of software engineers, DevOps engineers, architects, DBAs and other SMEs, in addition to agile delivery and project managers. There are already Postgres experts in the organisation, therefore you will have the ability to be upskilled, if required.

This company is a fast growing technology organisation. They provide services to a range of end clients, including the UK Public Sector. As such; candidates must be available to undergo Government SC Security Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the reliability and performance aspects of multiple AWS Production and Non-Production databases
• Work on observability of relevant database metrics aligned to service SLAs
• Provide database expertise to engineering teams
• Automation of database platform and services
• Identify parts of the data platforms that do not scale and provide resolutions
• Work on the efficiency and capacity planning
• Drive root cause analysis of incidents

Core Competencies

• AWS cloud computing best practices
• Postgres database platforms design, build and operation
• Designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery
• Maintaining and monitoring the database platforms
• Performance tuning: indexing, partitioning & load balancing
• Deployment via CI/CD automation and configuration management
• Proficient knowledge of SQL, bash Scripting and Python

This role is a role where you will grow and develop your skills, working with a team of superb technical specialists. You will employ the best practices for change and release management, working with your teams and ensuring solid code goes to production.

The role will include BAU production support as well as Advanced Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills. You will work in a way that focuses on outcomes, identifying the root cause and prompt fix for high-priority incidents.
