Microbiology Technician / Biology/Microbiology Graduate

Type: Permanent

Salary: £22,000

Hours: Days (Mon - Friday - Friday short days) and a part - time (20hours) role available too

Our Client, a Global Medical Devices company are looking to appoint a Microbiology Technician to work in their modern QC - testing labs. The successful Candidate will get the chance to work as part of a successful Micro/QC team; gaining furthered career progression in a 13485/GMP regulated Medical Devices industry.

The Role:

  • Microbiological testing of finished products and work in progress manufactured on site.
  • Microbiological testing of bought in finished products where necessary.
  • SAL support process, including reporting and metrics.
  • Sterile batch release/ Use of JDE to hold and release codes.
  • Sampling (for both chemistry and microbiology labs).
  • Prioritisation of workload for self and other technicians.
  • Liaising with other departments regarding priority release.
  • General lab duties (glassware washing, housekeeping, culture collection, growth promotion testing etc).
  • Use of Excel to prepare performance metrics and reports
  • Tracking and trending of data.
  • Support/cover for raw material testing, environmental monitoring.
  • Development and validation of test methods.
  • Documentation reviews and updates; document control, records management.
  • Training of other technicians.
  • Non-routine testing as required, including report preparation.
  • Investigations of NCR's as required
  • Health and safety representative for the laboratory
  • Calibration of Equipment
  • Comply with site Health and Safety procedures.
  • Apply Company values and operate in in an open and ethical manner

The Person:

  • Will hold a Degree in a relevant - Scientific/ Micro based discipline
  • Will have experience in basic Microbiological tests (bacteria tests, sterility, plate streaking etc)
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, willing to learn and complete the necessary laboratory housekeeping tasks.
