Primary role purpose:

The primary purpose of the position is to be responsible for the planning, development, coordination and delivery of the monthly reporting requirements of the Group FP&A team. This includes the drive towards automation of the Monthly Management Report (MMR), the primary performance report for the Exec team. The role will also perform ad hoc FP&A analytical work as required and contribute to other Group FP&A activities as necessary to support the team's deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the planning, development, coordination and delivery of the Green Book / MMR (Monthly Management Reporting), working closely with the Business Finance teams.
  • Working with the FP&A Director on the preparation of other key month end reports, including but not limited to the CFO Review of the month's results, Exec and Board reports, and the CEO Ops Report.
  • Management of the monthly data upload to our Consortium Partners.
  • Support the quarterly external reporting process and the target of zero-tolerance reporting, including coordinating data inputs from the business finance teams and reviewing documents for accuracy / consistency.
  • Be able to stand in for the FP&A Director for any of the above deliverables and lead discussions at a leadership team and/or Exec level, if required.
  • Provide training for Finance users on Adaptive and associated OfficeConnect plugins, as required.
  • Responsible for the training and day-to-day management of the team's graduate/junior resource, to support the month end activities and progress his/her development at Inmarsat.
  • Group FP&A lead on any remaining queries resulting from the automation of the MMR, working in collaboration with the Business Intelligence and Analytics team.
  • Ad-hoc items as they arise as part of driving for improvement in FP&A

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate must be/have:

  • Qualified accountant with minimum of five years post qualification experience
  • Excellent experience of managing multi-business area financial reporting activities
  • Ability to lead a process, and adapt as necessary to ensure completion on time
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to develop and deliver business-critical reporting, working with senior management as necessary
  • Confidence and ability to present to senior management including members of Executive Team
  • Self-starter able to see the requirement and propose a way forward to meet it
  • Clear understanding of both accounting and commercial drivers underlying financial statements
  • Strong Excel skills and working with Adaptive Insights or similar tools is essential

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

  • Some management experience would be preferable
  • Direct experience of business partnering a business unit alongside commercial teams to deliver its financial objectives would be advantageous
  • Relevant industry experience would be preferable
  • Experience working with Tableau and SAP would be preferable
