Tax and Trust Assistant

Location: Essex

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

This is an excellent role for a Tax and Trust professional to join a National financial planning firm. This role forms part of the Tax and Trust Team, and supports the Tax and Trust Specialist in providing tax and trust advice to Financial Advisers, Paraplanners, the Compliance Team and other colleagues as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Tax and Trust Team by undertaking general office administration, including, but not limited to, maintaining and cleansing email folders, scanning correspondence
  • Providing support on ad-hoc projects undertaken by the Tax Team
  • Assisting with delivering the core functions of the tax team, checking calculations and reports involving bond encashments, pension contributions and withdrawals, inheritance tax planning and consideration of clients' income tax and capital gains tax positions
  • Assisting with delivery of the tax return service offered by the Tax Team
  • Highlighting processes and templates that could be improved, identify areas where a training need exists and share best practice ideas to improve the delivery of the service for the business and for clients' benefit
  • Safeguarding client data in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Reporting any compliance issues or suspected compliance breaches to the Compliance Manager as soon as they are made aware of them

Skills:

  • ATT qualified or qualified by experience working within the financial services industry
  • Technical knowledge of regulations, legislation and codes of practice relevant to tax and trusts and financial products
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
