Network Design Specialist - NFV

Flint are currently looking for an enthusiastic, passionate voice Network Design Specialist for a permanent opportunity with one of the world's leading telecom providers.

Bristol/London, UK- 5 days per week in the office

Skills required for the job

  • Written Skills: As you will be responsible for authoring formal technical documentation, it is imperative that you are able to express your thoughts clearly and concisely and are thoughtful towards the types of audiences that will be reading your documentation
  • Design Skills: to support Network Functions Virtualised (NFV) and Hyperconverged (HCi) Design and build activities within the local team and wider Mobile Core directorate relating to client's Mobile Services using Cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will have hands-on deployment experience of Cloud technologies based on VMware software products and certified solutions. Extensive knowledge of X86 compute and Storage technologies as well as a good understanding of IP network technologies.
    Represent team, supporting various Design discussions with technology 3rd party's and internal teams - Security/Operations/Design
    Own outcome and actions from Design discussions through to delivery
    Document HL & LL Design
    Build and deploy agreed technical solutions
    Identify/support target operational process to support solution
    Work collaboratively with Core Ops and other technology teams to successfully deploy and operate solution
    Adhere to security industry best practices for NFV/HCi onboarding of virtual machines and containers
  • Business acumen: You will be dealing with suppliers. The vendor management and procurement side of our business will rely on you to forecast usage for the year ahead and to provide a balanced opinion on capacity particularly during an RFP or Change Request procurement process
  • Member of a professional body eg Institution of Engineering and Technology is a useful but not mandatory affiliation. This is a technical team of professional and specialist engineers within the telecoms sector and you will be expected to keep up-to-date with the industry using several methods such as vendor training, professional training, mandatory training, The Academy online.
