Media Manager

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days in the office)

Salary: £43,824 - £51,557 pa

Hours: Full time

Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by playing a key role in the communications and engagement strategy of the organisation.

As Media Manager, you will assist in delivering the communications and engagement strategy by developing and delivering content tailored for the media and managing media relationships and act as the communications lead for key organisational programmes and projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating content for media channels and audiences, working alongside communication and stakeholder managers
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including journalists
  • Overseeing the management of media enquiries
  • Overseeing the management of the out of hours media service
  • Proactively planning media engagement
  • Identifying and exploiting opportunities to communicate the key messages of the organisation to the public and other key stakeholders

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Communications and Engagement and senior stakeholders across the organisation, diligently spotting and mitigating reputational risks, whilst seeking to develop proactive media opportunities. With a new corporate strategy to launch in 2023, and an external communications strategy that has reset the tone and direction of the organisation's engagement, this is an exciting and promising time to join the team.

About you

To be considered for this role you must be a media professional with previous experience working in a media office or as a journalist. You will be able to demonstrate a capable and proven track record of planning and delivering integrated communications campaigns, as well as media strategies. You will also be capable in the management of conflicting priorities, identifying and managing risk, and escalating where appropriate. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build effective relationships are equally important.
