Job Description

After a long period of collaborative working, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH) merged with Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WSHT) in April 2021 to form University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex). The hospital is a critical part of the Trust's strategic vision, including delivery of its clinical strategy, representing an opportunity to improve system wide services for people across Sussex.

Senior Appointed Person (AP) Electrical - £33,706 - £40,588 (AfC Band 6)

Our new Senior AP Electrical will join a recently formed Estates department, which followed the Trust merger and brought together two separate Facilities and Estates teams into a single structure and strengthened the commercial expertise within the Trust.

The Senior AP Electrical will be working at the new 3T's hospital site and will be responsible for the delivery of planned and reactive electrical maintenance programmes across the Trust. The role will witness commissioning tests and trials on electrical infrastructure and be appointed as Appointed Person for up to three HTM Safe Systems of Work.

As the new hospital is occupied, the Senior AP Electrical will work with the Estates Manager (3T's) to develop and appoint competent persons for electrical roles, and support the ongoing programme of works.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Assisting the Estates Manager 3T's with the local management of the organisation's infrastructure and engineering compliance functions to ensure a high quality, cost effective service Responsible for the delivery of a high quality and responsive service and the management of its workforce in the following areas: Reactive Maintenance Planned Maintenance Engineering Compliance High Voltage Low Voltage Control of Asbestos

Appointed by Trust Authorised Engineer in 3 areas of Electrical SSoW including LV, HV, BMS, Lifts and PAT Witness testing and commissioning across electrical systems at 3T's hospital Operate electrical infrastructure 3T's post-handover The successful Senior Appointed Person Electrical will hold;

  • HNC Level 4 in mechanical, electrical, building services, engineering or marine engineering plus extensive experience of engineering services
  • Direct experience of varied electrical maintenance including; PAT, UPS, Generation, LV, HV and BMS Inspector and Tester to BS7671 GN3 (18 th Edition) Knowledge of statutory electrical requirements
