Research and Development Chemist

Science Solutions are currently recruiting for a Research and Development Chemist on behalf of a market leader in UV printing inks in the West Lothian area. The company is dedicated to innovation, following 30 years within the UV market. You will be working to develop high performance polymer systems as well as developing further the core business of UV curable inks.

For this role, you will have experience with inks, the printing industry, or coatings. A degree is not necessary with industry experience and whilst knowledge of polymers would be helpful, it is not essential as training will be provided.

Key responsibilities:

• Developing high quality polymer systems and UV curable inks and coatings
• Assisting customers, helping them achieve excellent results and troubleshooting any issues
• Liaising with suppliers to source the best raw materials for each project
• Liaising with the Quality Control and Manufacturing department, providing all the information needed about each formulation, and providing support

Knowledge and experience:

• A background within inks, the printing industry or coatings
• Able to take on a varied workload, working alone or in a team
• An ability to plan, organise and document each project
