Job Description

A great opportunity to join a global innovative packaging solutions manufacturer as a Maintenance Engineer based at their facility in Slough. As a Multi-Skilled hands-on engineer with a strong electrical bias required to conduct maintenance and repairs to ensure the smooth running of the machines during shift and carrying out breakdowns and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

What you'll be doing:

  • Carry out safety reviews and risk assessments on all machines ensuring a safe environment
  • Work with the Engineering Manager to increase and optimise efficiency on the production lines
  • To maintain the plant to the highest standards
  • Maintain upkeep of stores inventory with the team
  • Be flexible in dealing with out of hours calls, assisting with 24/5 shift cover and working some weekends
  • To ensure knowledge and experience is shared freely and openly with colleagues
  • To support Engineering Manager in reducing monthly spend on labour and spares
  • Carry out small projects and modifications from concept to completion

Skills helpful for the role:

  • Technical college: recognised maintenance engineering apprenticeship, C+G, ONC, HNC
  • Experience in FMCG, Food, Packaging, Extrusion, print background desirable
  • Up-do-date with the latest UK/European safety requirements and legislation
  • Strong problem solving skills and diagnostic ability both reactive and proactive
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics experience essential
  • Electrical fault-finding skills essential
  • Liaise with external contractors and assist them while the contractors are on site
  • Able to operate milling, grinding, turning machines and welding would be advantageous
  • PLC, drives and HMI fault finding skills would be advantageous
  • 3 phase motors, drives and control gear would be advantageous
  • Good communication and IT skills (Microsoft office)

  • Rotating shift times 6-2, 2-10, 10-6 or alternative shift patterns may be required (40 hour week)
