The roleWe are looking for a Lead OHL Design Engineer to lead and coordinate design projects and oversee the completion in respect to design issues and to produce effective design solutions. Providing technical support to Design Engineers, Project Engineers, Site Engineers, and clients for large OHL transmission schemes.Key Responsibilities; Manage day to day overhead line design activities, liaising closely with the Design Manager To act as a project lead and also a senior design resource in support of projects by delivering high quality design outputs when required Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of National Grid, SPEN, ENA and other relevant industry standards Develop specific design processes, policy and training manuals To assist in the provision of technical advice and support to Babcock personnel and clients Review resource levels regularly, reporting deficiencies and possible solutions to the Design Manager Assist the development of external design resources relevant to role and utilise wherever required Maintain effective communication and undertake any necessary correspondence with both internal and external clients Attend and contribute to regular project briefings, team meetings and design review meetings with engineers and/or technicians where necessary Continually assess and review contract programme within design and innovation teams Liaise with clients to provide input and scope for new standards/codes of practiceThe candidateWe are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual with excellent technical skills and the ability to nurture and grow the team.
