Our client are a certified, well established leading UK food manufacturer with almost 40 years in industry. They have experienced year on year growth in the UK are now working towards expanding into the European market. They are now looking to expand the Food Science Department and looking to hire a Food Process Engineer to join their expanding team.

Your Role:As a Food Process Engineer you will join our team near Hitchin and report directly to the Operations Team. You will be either degree qualified in Food Science Discipline or equivalent.

As part of the Food Process Engineering Team, you will primarily be responsible for optimising, sustaining and improving current food manufacturing processes. Your role will also involve:

  • Ensuring that high standards are adhered to in current operations.
  • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to assess and mitigate risks for process changes.
  • Collating, analysing and presenting data concisely as well as using this information to make improvements and recommendations.
  • Optimising manufacturing & site machinery and equipment.
  • Implementing best operational practices.
  • Implement quality improvements and support closure of quality cases.
  • Investigating and solving cross functional process issues.
  • Continuous improvement and management of processes.
  • Liaising and building strong working relationship with Operations, Maintenance, Technical and the NPD team to improve reliability and processes.
  • Manage and control costs and waste within processes.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Apprenticeship or Degree Qualified in a Food Science Discipline or equivalent
  • Have a proven track record with continuous improvement, LEAN problem solving tools, eg: 5 Why's, Ishikawa / Fish Bone / GEMBA etc.
  • Familiar with Lean Six Sigma or equivalent
  • Have a proven track record in a Food / Pharma Manufacturing environment
