Functional area: Engineering

The Field Engineer role is to provide first line engineering support as well as on turbine inspection and fault investigation services to operations. The Field Engineer provides turbine technology specific experience and engineering knowledge through intermate knowledge of the OEM operation and maintenance requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides advice and guidance to the site manager on major component health and best practice with regards to WTG service and maintenance requirements
  • To act as a conduit between site and central engineering support functions
  • Responsible for all major component health monitoring including vibration monitoring, condition based monitoring, grease/oil sampling analysis and interpretation and physical component inspection
  • Through review of performance and monitoring data, be responsible for advising when a major component, or none major component, should be proactively exchanged. Thus limiting business interruption and lost generation
  • Be involved in component failure root cause analysis, reporting and advising the site as to whether an inherent defect exists across the remaining assets and any further engineering actions that may need to be implemented

Skills and experience:

  • Candidates should have or be working towards a formal engineering qualification. Opportunities will be available to further develop more formal engineering qualification such as HNC/HND
  • Candidates should have significant wind turbine experience, ideally as a trouble shooter on the particular technology type
  • Additionally, it would be advantageous for candidates to have specialist engineering turbine experience such as gearbox and main bearing borescope inspection or Delta module trouble shooting experience
