Mechanical Design Engineer (Plant Systems)
Salary: £31,931 to £34,709 per annum, plus an annual allowance of up to £4k per year
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (dependent on skills and experience).

STFC are currently undertaking an extensive programme of capital works to improve the ISIS facility. You will be part of the ISIS Design Division and working within the Plant Design Team which are responsible for the design and installation of cooling water and ventilation systems on the ISIS plant. You will be working on 'closed circuit' cooling water systems (demineralized water, chilled water etc). An interest in energy savings and carbon footprint reduction technology is key for this role.
Scope of Services
You will lead and act as the design project manager whilst designing complete mechanical service systems and managing several design projects. You will be coordinating the plant design layout in collaboration with the CAD Pipework Engineer (AUTOCAD Plant3D) and specifying all mechanical components associated with mechanical service systems such as cooling water; chilled water; and piped gases (e.g. compressed air, piped laboratory gases etc.) including service panels. The work will require significant technical expertise regarding cooling plant technology and pipework systems. Other duties include:
