Technical Author

JOB- Technical AuthorLOCATION- Sandy, BedfordshireTERM- PermanentSALARY- £30,000 - £50,000 per annumMy client design and manufacture a range of special purpose machinery. They are looking to take on a Technical Author to join their team near Sandy on a permanent basis.The Technical Author will ideally have the following attributes:

• Be HND/HNC or Degree qualified in a technical subject such as Engineering, Science, Computing, Telecommunications or similar
• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe FrameMaker or similar
• Knowledge of graphic design, digital photo editing, illustration or similar
• Technical writing capability and able to understand the process of product development
• Ability to carry out research and analyse complex, detailed information
• Ability to follow procedures and company guidelines to high standards
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to fault find and correct issues in documentation
• Excellent proof-reading skills
• Capability to communicate on an in-depth technical level
• High levels of accuracy
• A good understanding on manufacturing and design practises and their processes
• Excellent presentation skills
• Adherence to deadlines, methodical thinking

The Technical Author role will involve:

• Produce clear and concise documentation to support a high-tech product range
• Research, analyse and understand technology and applications for the documentation that will be produced
• Communicating / collaborating with different departments like engineers and managers to solve technical queries
• Test and update written material with users
• Ensure technical information is organised, managed, and published as per time scales
• Direct and co-ordinate external providers
• Liaising effectively with sales and marketing colleagues to generate documentation for new product launches
• Produce and provide illustrations / photographs when required
