The opportunity:
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Materials Engineer with drive and enthusiasm to join Europe's number one missile systems provider, developing design solutions for the next generation of weapons.
Working within a state of the art Materials Laboratory you will be given responsibility to provide complex practical support or solutions around laboratory analysis with the opportunity to participate or lead failure investigations for both national and international projects. You will feel as if you are making a tangible impact to real life problems.
This technical practical role will put you at the forefront of materials technology, and will offer a breadth of development in surrounding fields. There will also be opportunities for national and international travel supporting both customers and suppliers.
What we are looking for
- Previous practical experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:
- Thermal Analysis Methods (TGA, DSC, TMA, Rheology)
- Other techniques (FTIR, SEM, XRF)
- Chemistry related areas
- Ceramics, Composites, Polymers and adhesives
- REACh and other environmental or health and safety legislation
- Equivalent of HND or Degree in Materials Science or Chemistry ideally, or Mechanical engineering.
- Good understanding of materials and their processes, how they react to various environments and how to assess performance
- An adaptable flexible and hands on individual able to use scientific instruments but also able to work with hardware and understand assemblies (e.g. controlled disassembly)
- Great problem solving skills.
- Good communication skills, with both technical and non-technical teams
