Wea re working with an excellent mainstream secondary school in Camden who are on the lookout for a 1-1 support assistant to work with a student who is wheelchair bound.
About the role- Wheelchair Assistant
You will be working on a 1-1 basis with a young man with a physical disability, affecting his ability to walk and sometimes write. Your role will involve helping the student to move his wheelchair around the school, scribing in lessons, assisting with toileting should the student require assistance (i.e. lifting onto the toilet or helping with removing/putting on clothing) and using manual handling to transport the student to and from their wheelchair when needed. The student is bright and ambitious and able to access the full national curriculum along with his peers in a mainstream classroom however requires assistance for physical needs. The ideal staff member should be friendly and approachable, patient and be willing to assist with toileting when needed. This role will be full-time term time with an ASAP start and last the full academic year.
