We are looking for a System Safety & Reliability Specialist to join us at Airbus in Filton. This is in our Safety and Reliability team - reporting to our Head of safety and reliability
ABOUT THE TEAM
The team of around 50 safety engineers is based in five separate locations around Europe and is accountable for the safety activities (functional and physical) for all Airbus aircraft systems. This includes the system safety assessment for functional safety (SSA); Particular Risk analysis (PRA); Zonal Safety Assessment (ZSA). These tasks involve a good knowledge of system architectures and behaviours as well as a good understanding of system installation. The safety activities involve close relationships with the Design Office, Chief engineering organisation, programs and certification teams.
OVERVIEW
The Safety & Reliability team is key in ensuring that systems architectures and their integration on the aircraft comply with the latest airworthiness regulations and safety processes.
As a system safety & reliability specialist, you will play an integral part in ensuring that all Airbus products are developed, designed, produced and supported according to the state-of-art and the relevant safety standards (associated to airworthiness regulations).
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check)
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional / Some / Frequent / Extensive travel within UK / and international

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
The safety specialist role will be primarily focused on ATA 28 and 32 systems, as well as associated particular risks such as Wheel and Tire Failure and Fuel Tank Safety. As part of the role, you will doing the following activities:
Review systems design and in-service solutions through understanding how failures will affect systems operation
Contribute to the safety 'validation and verification' activities at systems level
Generate and review Safety Assessment and Analyses for Aircraft Systems (FHA, pSSA, SSA, Fault Trees, Quantitative and Qualitative Assessments)
Generate and review Common Cause Analyses such as Particular Risk Analyses, Zonal Safety Analysis and Common Mode Analyses
Support the System Design Teams and suppliers to ensure compliance against the safety objectives.
Liaise with key stakeholders e.g. Chief Engineer, Design Team Leaders regarding risks that will affect the safety of the aircraft and work closely with these stakeholders to manage these risks
Analyze in-service occurrences to ensure safety compliance of the In-Service fleet.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a naturally curious individual with a passion for learning new skills. Previous experience of working in the Aerospace industry would be beneficial, however other industries such as nuclear would be considered as well
University degree in Aeronautical/ Aerospace Engineering.
Proven experience in Aeronautical engineering, ideally in the field of Safety and Reliability Engineering.
Good knowledge of Aircraft Systems
Experience of Safety processes, regulations and guidelines (CS/ AC 25.1309, ARP 4761, ARP 4754A).
