Laboratory Technician

We are working with a speciality chemical business who are looking to strengthen their technical team by hiring a laboratory technician at their site in Basildon, Essex on a permanent, full-time basis.

The purpose of the role is to support the smooth running of the laboratory, reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will work closely with cross functional teams including sales, production, and customer operations, to ensure we continually meet customer needs and requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

• In house testing and Sampling of raw materials & finished products.
• All reporting and recording of all test results.
• Upkeep and ordering of all consumables required for the laboratory & sample disposal.
• Produce laboratory blends when requested.
• To support in development projects.
• Provide support to the Laboratory Manager and Technical Director when required.
• Ensure the laboratory is always kept in a clean and tidy condition.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained and raise any maintenance queries to the Laboratory Manager.
• Responsible for meeting personal and departmental objectives.

Requirements:

• Have a background or formal qualification in a Chemistry or closely related subject.
• Some experience working in a QC Laboratory would be highly advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail & the ability to work without supervision.
• Excellent time management skills & communication skills.
• Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Office & strong written, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good record-keeping skills.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts day and nights.

Salary: £30,000 - £31,000Benefits: Pension scheme with a company contribution of 9%, Life assurance scheme, Private Health Care, Employee Assistance Programme, Discretionary bonus scheme, 25 days holidays plus bank holidays.Role: Full-time, PermanentLocation: Basildon & Wickford, Essex.Hours: 44 per week, over 4 x 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with a 60-minute unpaid break.

Dayshift:

6am to 6pm Monday

6am to 6pm Tuesday

6am to 6pm Wednesday

6am to 6pm Thursday

Nightshift:

6pm Monday to 6am Tuesday

6pm Tuesday to 6am Wednesday

6pm Wednesday to 6am Thursday

6pm Thursday to 6am Friday
