Job Description

A fast-growing chemical manufacturing business based in Basingstoke is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer to join its team on a permanent basis. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting research to develop new and improved processes which will include the design & planning of equipment, process performance, troubleshooting and implementing CI tools into the current set-up.

Process Engineer responsibilities

  • Designing and planning the layout of equipment, monitoring the process performance throughout production, troubleshooting production problems, and proposing and delivering initiative solutions.
  • Lead on the writing and/or updating of the Standard Operating Procedure for any new processes that are implemented along with the training and up-skilling of Machinal Fitters and Production employees.
  • Develop, configure, and optimise processes from inception through to start-up and certification including overseeing and assessing existing processes and workflows.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements to the existing manufacturing process, driving efficiency and cost saving where possible.
  • Propose and implement new innovative ideas for the business, optimising productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
  • Managing a team of maintenance fitters on a day-to-day basis ensuring work is completed to a high standard and on time and implementing World Class Engineering and Lean principles.

Process Engineer requirements

  • Degree qualification in Chemical/Process/Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced manufacturing environment - where you can demonstrate a successful track record of improving processes, designing equipment layouts and cost savings.
  • Must have a good understanding of World Class Engineering and Lean principles.
  • Experience or a desire to manage/supervise a team of engineers in an industrial setting.
  • Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD, AutoCAD design software packages.
