Spacecraft Propulsion System Engineer

TRAVEL REQUIRED : Occasional travel within the UK and to Europe / USA

            At Airbus, we specialise in the propulsion systems and components used in exciting missions such as the MARS SAMPLE RETURN mission, the next generation of climate observation satellites such as EARTHCARE and BIOMASS , providing telecommunications and navigation services such as ONESAT and GALILEO , as well as the NASA ARTEMIS human exploration missions to the moon and beyond!

            Operating in partnership with many of our Airbus sites across Europe, and with a customer and supplier base around the world, we are also developing new propulsion technologies.

            We are looking for SPACECRAFT PROPULSION SYSTEM ENGINEER to join our Chemical Propulsion engineering team in Stevenage, UK.

            HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

            • Design, Develop, and Qualify spacecraft propulsion systems
            • Own sub-system documentation; requirements, design and justification, test plan, verification, user manuals, failure mode analysis
            • Prepare, review, and present at design reviews (PDR/ CDR/ FRR )
            • Provide technical support throughout integration, and sign-off test results
            • Carry out performance analysis of propulsion systems, and participate in concurrent engineering with structural, thermal control, integration and test, attitude control and mission analysis disciplines
            • Supporting flight operations and review spacecraft telemetry

              ABOUT YOU

              • Experience in aerospace or technical industries in the design, development, qualification, integration, and operation of propulsion systems and their components, or similar
              • Interested in propulsion performance analysis, or other numerical modelling
              • Prepared to define test plans and test requirements for propulsion systems
              • Able to plan corrective measures when identified during integration or test, and comfortable reporting to customers and/ or supplier
              • Prepared to manage work packages and direct functional teams
