Learning Support Assistant Salary: £75- £85 per day Starting date: Immediately Location: Gateshead GSL Education in Newcastle are actively recruiting for an experienced Learning support Assistant for a really lovely school in Gateshead. The school is a large mainstream secondary setting with a vibrant and pro-active learning support team. The position is Monday to Friday working hours tbc but will be between (phone number removed)pm and will commence immediately and will be long term for the right candidate ! The role includes Assisting with promoting good behaviour , positivity and kindness and helping to deliver academic work across a year group Calming, de-escalating and negotiating with learners spotting flash points Helping learners understand lessons and educational activity delivered by the teacher and supporting where needed The role involves assisting with individual pupils or across a class with other support assistants Helping ensure the school day runs smoothly for your cohort Essential skills Experience with young people or adults gained in a care or education setting Basic knowledge around National Curriculum subjects Resilience, confidence, and proactivity The ability to build rapport with hard to reach young people A good level of academic ability Kindness and great communication skills The ability to assist with academic work and tasks in a patient way The ability to support alternative timetable activities Excellent de-escalation skills An enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the update service or be prepared to go through the process with GSLEducation Availability for at least six months Great team working and excellent communication skills We offer competitive salaries, paid bi-weekly and a great candidate experience including regular contact from our team and a huge commitment for finding work that you want !
