Long-term school cover supervisor role starting January 2023 Are you an overseas trained teacher looking to gain teaching experience in UK schools or a university graduate considering a career in teaching? Come work with us at Supply Desk as a school cover supervisor! We are working with a secondary school based between Andover and Devizes who are looking for an unqualified teacher or cover supervisor to join them in January on a full-time long-term contract. The Academy is part of a trust who provide themselves on excellence and OFSTED have rated them as good with outstanding elements. This is a fantastic opportunity for teachers who have qualified overseas and so don t have QTS in the UK, or for those graduates who are considering becoming a teacher and want to get some invaluable experience in schools. A large amount of the cover will be science based so this role would suit an overseas trained science teacher or science graduate. However, they would also be happy to accept applications from non-subject specialists. The role of a cover supervisor is to supervise whole classes during the absence of teachers (planned or unplanned), giving instructions for the lesson as provided by a teacher with the primary focus on maintaining good order and ensuring students are on task. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Supervises the work of whole classes set by the class/subject teacher in accordance with school policy and ensures students are engaged in learning activities. Keep students on task and respond to general queries whilst managing the behaviour of students to ensure a positive and constructive learning environment. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom, promoting positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with school policies and encourage students to take responsibility for their own behaviour and actions. Register and record student attendance in lessons. Collect completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher. Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person. To respect confidentiality at all times. This role can be full-time, part-time or fully flexible to fit around other commitments you may have.
