GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a highly successful manufacturing company located in Malvern, Worcestershire. We are currently supporting their recruitment for a Commissioning Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract. Our client designs and manufacture s engines, power trains, vehicles, and component test systems at their facility in Malvern. The company was founded in 1983 and is undergoing a period of growth and change. Our core CADET product comprises Windows 7 based software and a dedicated rack based I/O system. The software is written, maintained, and supported by engineers in Malvern. The electronic hardware is designed and produced in Malvern. Using this core product, our client supplies systems ranging from a new control and data logging system for an existing test cell through to a new turnkey test cell complete with dynamometer, engine cooling systems and cell ventilation systems. The Purpose of the Role: To provide vital support for our engineering projects. Responsible for commissioning and overseeing the installation of equipment, plant and systems and ensure that everything is working safely and efficiently. To ensure that the products they are responsible for work properly and that clients needs are met. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating work to agreed deadlines. To ensure that equipment works to its specification, creating and carrying out test procedures. Commissioning Engineer Main Duties: Checking on site system electrical installations and fault finding as necessary Calibrating and setting up electronic data acquisition, electrical and mechanical systems PID tuning of standard automotive control loops (e.g., speed, torque, temperature control etc). Working with the automation development engineers to test bespoke control software Configuring test sequences within the highly flexible automation software Performing test runs, gathering results Following commissioning steps and checks Working with customers to achieve system functionality sign off Working with the commissioning manager and site managers to produce commissioning time schedules Provide initial customer training in operation of the supplied system Undertake customer service calibration, fault finding and rectification visits Frequent work in conjunction with the in-house test department Largely site based, both within the UK and worldwide Customer test cycle development work, using the Sierra CP CADET software Customer service calls to Investigate system faults Customer calibration/maintenance visits Supporting both customers and overseas Sierra CP engineers with diagnostics and fault finding (phone, email, and remote access) Commissioning Engineer Desired Skills: Looking for a self-driven, proactive individual that has good time management skills Electrical understanding, with ability to follow electrical drawings and diagnose issues. Ideally with a degree in engineering, or other electrical qualification. Experience in a similar roll would also be desirable Understanding of software development is desirable, but not essential Good written and verbal communication skills Full UK driving licence Happy to work away from home during the working week as required, with occasional overseas trips of up to a 28 days For all the above requirements the successful Commissioning Engineer will receive a competitive salary of up to £42,000 per annum based on experience.
