About the site
Westry is our Cambridgeshire based potato and onion packing facility. There are a number of support roles on site with the majority of colleagues working within our operation.
About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a SHE & Training Leader (H&S Advisor) to our team on a permanent basis.
This is a Monday - Friday role with the hours of 8:30am - 5pm.
Key responsibilities;
Undertake SHE audits to validate KPI's set with key stakeholders are maintained to both internal / external metric's and full compliance is adhered to , Presenting findings and recommendations for improvements and any requirement to change of procedures or legislation.
Ensure IPL maintain full accreditations to both internal and external SHE standards and initiate with POM, clear strategies to cascade to key stakeholders, which continuous improvement towards 'world class' standards
Accountable for database entries for all accidents and near misses, adequately identifying and highlighting where necessary the actions required for preventing re-occurrence; this includes the accurate maintenance of accident reports
Maintain the site risk assessment system to ensure the business has a visibility of all risk assessment requirements, prioritising planning and delivering training including the setting of site specific KPI's.
Maintain and update the site specific SHE policies and procedures and communicate with key stakeholders.
Manage appropriate levels of reporting and communication across the business to ensure everyone is fully informed of any relevant information to SHE safety standards
Accountable for the First Aid provision on site to meet with legal requirements for cover and training
Accountable for all key stakeholders are appropriately trained to complete accident investigations in timely manner set down through agreed KPI's and assist stakeholders in accident investigations and lead investigation in high potential incidents/accidents
Maintain change control database to ensure all site changes are documented and able to be audited to external validations
Provide consultative information and advice on the preparation and writing of SOP's and documents, utilising best practice to industry leading standards
Provide consultative information and advice on SHE to all key stakeholders
Implement and co-ordinate initiatives that reduce the risk of accidents and incidents through effective communications, campaigns and best practice
Engage with training co-ordinator to deliver compliance training to most up to date standards
Monitor adherence to SHE standards, reporting back to the POM and senior team to ensure corrective actions are taken to address all non-conformance in a timely manner
Manage and co ordinate all external SHE related audits
Influence the Operations SLT to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are to the correct standard, authorised and available on the intranet system ready for colleague use, whist also assisting in the preparation and writing of SOP's as and when required
Work in conjunction with the Operations SLT to ensure compliance with both internally and externally, recognising best practise and standards are maintained and statutory requirements are met through training with colleagues.
Manage, update and continuously evolve the training material to constantly meet the needs of our business including liaising with Operations SLT for process and working practice updates.
Accountable for regular discussions with the Operations SLT the needs and priorities of training to be given on each shift, identifying when training should be amended or any additional training needs to be given. Periodically review training to ensure new training requirements are added to the training matrix
Audit the compliance of colleague training records and the up keep of the training matrix to ensure the shift management teams have fully up to date visuals of training competencies and requirements throughout the site.
Conducting regular training gap analysis, in order to determine the most relevant and cost effective training solutions for the Site
Design, develop and deliver training materials, documents and manuals to ensure consistency, relevancy and quality of content to meet the specific needs of the site in accordance to company objectives.
Manage Area Trainers to ensure the relevant department leaders adhere to all training materials, documents, procedures and manuals and all members of staff , visitors and contractors
Manage site in developing the skills & knowledge required to drive business strategy, policies, procedures via visual skills in workshops , one to one sessions in order to improve site overall performance.
Accountable for all site inductions and training for all new colleagues.
Conduct periodic BRC audits to ensure site complies with the latest Food Safety and BRC requirements.
Manage with the Site HRM to develop and maintain site training budgets based on annual appraisals/reviews, skills gap analysis, legal requirements and departmental needs.
In partnership with site HRM and Management team to identify and agree corrective actions resulting from gap analysis.
Manage relationships with external providers to ensure best and most cost effective training solutions for the business.
Work with senior management team to launch the specific policy and procedure manuals and devise a plan on how they will be delivered to all relevant colleagues.
Conduct periodical training audits to ensure full site compliance and implement corrective actions where non-conformance has been identified.
Accountable for Area trainer to maintain the Quality management system to ensure site documentation (Policies, Procedures, Manuals and SOP's) are consistent, referenced as per BRC requirements, up to date and changes are effectively communicated to all relevant departments.
Provide coaching sessions to all new and existing trainers (SOM's, SOL's and Line Leaders).
Manage Training system in its entirety - in regards to soft and hard skills.
Experience and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have previously worked within the food industry in a similar role and have a good understanding of key MS Packages.
NEBOSH qualified
First Aid Trained
Internal H&S / Food safety auditing trained
HACCAP for food manufacturing trained
Train the trainer - certified
