We are looking for a Medical Secretary to help provide the support in the General Surgery Department at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

We have a temporary position available for a Medical Secretary to help provide the support in the General Surgery department at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.
Pay Rate: £11.14 per hour.
The working hours for this position are:
37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm
This assignment will be starting ASAP and is due to last roughly 2 months. Once this assignment ends, you will be fully registered with NHSP and we will look for another assignment for you ASAP.

Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
Manage and monitor patients through their treatment pathway ensuring compliance to RTT, cancer pathways and local waiting time standards.
Key liaison between the Trust and outsourced dictation services, or voice recognition services, for the majority of clinical administration.
Provide comprehensive administrative, clerical and audio typing support to consultants and their teams.
Work in a team based secretarial service providing support for each other and ensuring continuity of the service.
Act as a key point of liaison between patients, GPs, other staff and outside agencies.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Manage and monitor patients through their treatment pathway ensuring compliance to RTT, cancer pathways and local waiting time Standards.
Act as first point of contact on behalf of the consultant and the Trust and deal effectively with all enquiries from GPs, patients, other departments within the Trust and all other departments, in line with Trust Values.
Action all enquiries, effectively, and respond and escalate where appropriate.
Manage clinical dictations on digital dictation or voice recognition systems and administer as required. Transcribe consultant admin and ward rounds if applicable.
Maintaining an effective filing system, including use of scanning systems.
Attend relevant departmental meetings for example: Team meetings, Admin Forums etc.
Prioritise workload to meet demands of the service.
Process referral letters appropriately, ensuring they are registered to the Patient Service Centre.
Effective management of the patient pathway, including monitoring of diagnostics and booking follow up appointments, adhering to government standards. Escalate issues where necessary.
Scan investigation results, escalate any issues and highlight concerns that require urgent intervention.
Monitor consultants' absence ensuring clinics are managed accordingly, following the Clinic Maintenance Policy.
Participate in ensuring that Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to.
Participate in Trust's quality improvement initiatives.
