The IP & Media Group is a group of 45 and growing, including 7 partners, 12 lawyers, 4 trade mark attorneys, trainees and paralegals, and non-fee earners (PAs, billing team and trade mark formalities team). Key responsibilities The associate will be involved in a wide range of contentious, advisory and transactional IP and media work, often international in scope and typically across the following areas: trade mark, domain name and design disputes and litigation, including anti-counterfeiting actions lifecycle copyright advice across media and tech industries licences and other agreements relating to trade marks, copyright, designs and advertising, including merchandising, sponsorship and franchise agreements the management and protection of our clients' global trade mark portfolios conducting trade mark registry proceedings corporate IP and media support in the context of M&A and investments, IP portfolio and catalogue transactions, security and charges on IP advertising advice including ASA complaints, copy clearance and media buying and creative agreements publishing, print and new media matters, including defamation and privacy, copy clearance advice and platform liability digital regulation and online safety The role involves a high level of client contact and the associate will conduct client meetings independently as well as under supervision. The associate will be expected to develop their own professional relationships with clients. The associate will also take part in business development. Knowledge, skills and experience Candidates must be UK qualified solicitors, with 1-3 years PQE and preferably from a firm with a leading intellectual property and/or media practice. However, a lawyer qualified in a common law/Commonwealth jurisdiction currently undertaking or willing to undertake the QLTS would be considered if they had good relevant experience and excellent references can be taken upfront.
