CFT - Finance Associate Team: The Finance Transactions team sits within the wider Corporate and Finance Transactions Department Purpose of role: To provide advice to BCLP's clients, primarily in the area of structured real estate finance What's in it for you? As a mid-level associate, you'll have the opportunity to work in a truly client facing role. You will advise on many aspects of finance, with an emphasis of transactions with real estate as the underlying asset and the role will involve both the origination of loans and the ongoing management of them. Key responsibilities: • Advising loan managers/servicers in relation to their appointments and management of loans and portfolios of loans, including distressed positions and loans in CMBS structure. • Advising on and documenting financing of development loans, provided by public sector bodies, such as Homes England and the Greater London Authority. • Drafting and negotiation of general LMA finance documents, including intercreditor arrangements. • Advising loan servicers on their day to day issues including borrower consent requests, loan repayments/release of security and amendments of loans. Key relationships: Not only will you be working very closely with our clients and the wider Finance Transactions team, but you will also work with the wider Corporate and Real Estate departments, in particular, to ensure our clients receive a seamless delivery of service. Experience and knowledge • This opportunity would suit a mid-level Associate of 3 - 5 PQE with experience of general finance work. Prior experience of structured real estate finance structures would be helpful, but not essential • Knowledge of general LMA finance document drafting and negotiation • Some industry knowledge of the Real Estate sector • Training and exposure to advising on a range of finance transactions Skills and competencies • A focus on technical and legal excellence • A personable team player with a proactive approach to building relationships with clients and across the wider department and the firm • Ability to demonstrate good communications skills to work closely with clients and the team • A knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice • Willingness to support and ability to get involved in business development activities • Ability to supervise/delegate work where appropriate Diversity, inclusion and working differently At Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner we understand the value of a diverse workforce and we believe people perform at their best when they can truly be themselves at work.
