This important role is at the heart of the organisation working hand in glove with business leads, senior leaders and private offices across the Department to deliver superb communications.

You will provide expert advice, deliver high quality engagement events and run content across our internal communications channels shaping our audience into a global network of engaged ambassadors for DIT.

You will be an integral on the highly valued DIT Internal Communication Team, offering your invaluable professional expertise to our hugely popular and engaging communications.

Job description

The successful candidate will:
  • Lead the creation, design, implementation and evaluation of compelling internal communication campaigns content and engagement events to demonstrate DIT is an outstanding organisation where people are proud to work
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and to teams across DIT delivering high quality communication in a timely, appropriate and consistent manner
  • Deliver best practice creative content that engages our audience
  • Review own and others content to ensure it is well written, accurate and free from mistakes
  • Evaluating the success of your campaign work, you will constantly seek new ways to draw people in through knowledge of emerging trends in internal communication
  • Balance the needs of multiple high-level projects and events
Hybrid Working

The role will be based in either London or Darlington. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences

Responsibilities

Essential Criteria
  • Experience of working in internal communication or experience of working in other communication discipline and knowledge of internal communication with demonstrated transferable skills
  • Ability to write and edit copy to high standards
  • Experience of developing internal communication strategies and implementation plans
  • Be familiar with digital applications like CMSs, design (e.g. canva), google analytics, email programmes (e.g maxemail), and MS Teams Live Events
  • Experienced at bringing in multiple stakeholder views on projects you lead and managing review/sign off processes for your content
Desirable Criteria
  • Able to edit videos on editing software like final cut pro
  • Have experience of arranging staff engagement events
  • Experience of large, complex, multi-site organisations
  • Engaging a global workforce

Security

Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
