Job Description
As a Packaging Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing existing, and sourcing new, suppliers; building solid and trusted relationships; and ensuring your categories are maintained in the most effective and profitable manner for the business.
You will take ownership of the packaging sourcing; therefore, it is essential you have working knowledge and proven experience of packaging and materials: mainly in our key packaging commodities (including glass, lids, recyclable plastic, aluminium and cardboard) and be able to demonstrate this.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure competitive, reliable and sustainable sources of supply, whilst constantly dealing with suppliers in an upfront, honest and mutually beneficial manner.
Project management expertise to drive the change of our main primary and secondary packaging range, finding reliable suppliers who can deliver the business needs.
Ensure negotiated prices are consistent, competitive and at the best possible terms.
Develop strong understanding of material commodities, identifying trends, striving to reduce risk and maximise commercial performance.
Manage the procurement process including competitive pricing, supplier selection and negotiation, contract implementation, service level agreements and supplier performance review.
Proactively strive for continuous development, suggesting improvements and ways to drive profit growth and sales through collaboration with Supply Chain and NPD. Achieve year on year cost savings consistent with the purchasing budget.
Build and deliver a pipeline of projects by engaging with internal cross-functional stakeholders, understanding needs and requirements aligned to functional and business targets.
Work closely with NPD and Design to source the new packaging required.
Work with Supply Chain to resolve supply issues/pricing queries as required, ensuring continuity of product supply.
Work closely with Technical to ensure existing and new suppliers comply with the Group's Technical Standards and Practices.
Arrange and co-ordinate samples for new packaging with the suppliers. Collate product detail information.
Manage the approval process for components and packaging, working closely with Technical providing feedback to suppliers on initial, pre-production and production samples.
Manage the Junior Buyer.
Ensure all departmental processes are implemented and adhered to.
ABOUT YOU
Degree qualified with minimum of 5 years' experience sourcing packaging ideally in a cosmetic brand.
High numeracy skills.
High efficiency and ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing projects.
Strong relationship builder, respected by Suppliers, peers and Senior Managers alike, able to balance the requirements of different stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint Office applications.
Strong organisational skills.
ADDITIONAL
Full-time role: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
Office is conveniently located just 3 minutes' walk from Beddington Lane Tram stop, which is connected to East Croydon and Wimbledon - both 20 minutes away. Approx. 30 min travel time from South West London, 35 mins from South London (Brixton, Stockwell etc.).
Position is available immediately.
Starting salary is £40,000 per annum.
