Design Ops Manager

We're a thriving Design Practice, made up of designers from a diverse group of backgrounds and experiences and all driven by a passion for the craft of design. Over the last 5 years we've grown in strategic importance within Tesco Bank by showcasing the ability of Human Centred Design to create innovative solutions based on a deep understanding of people.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Design Ops Manager. Helping us shape the future of banking and insurance, crafting unique experiences that truly reflect Tesco values and make a real difference in the day to day lives of people across the UK.
Our Design Ops Manager helps build the right conditions to enable the Design Practice to excel at Tesco Bank. They help establish toolsets, rituals, ways of working and culture to make sure we produce the very best work across all the demands for our varied skill sets: UX to Service to Proposition Design. They also help build our internal and external reputation as a Design Practice that designers want to be a part of.
Finding and growing design Superstars
The Design Ops Manager helps us attract, develop and retain the very best designers so that we produce high-quality work that solves genuine problems for Tesco Shoppers and create meaningful business impact. They ensure we continually evolve our capability to respond to the changing nature of demand the Bank has from Design; and keep up with trends in Design, fintech and beyond.
Setting us up for success
The role ensures that Designers are equipped with the best tools in the market to do their job efficiently. They make the best use of the Practice budget to maximise value and avoid overspends. They also plan and allocate resource so that committed projects have the right level of design support and the right skill set
Getting us out there
The Design Ops Manager helps elevate the Design Practice with internal and external audiences. They showcase the breadth, depth and quality of the work we do; and the people behind our diverse team of Designers - so that we are perceived as a, progressive and forward-thinking Design Practice.
Key skills and experience
Experience in a Design Operations or UX Delivery Manager role with proven success in amplifying design's value and impact at scale.
You use design thinking and human-centered design to understand the user needs of designers when approaching challenges associated with 'designing a design practice.'
Ability to connect, empower and inspire others. You are someone who cares for their colleagues and contribute to creating and nurturing the team culture.
Ability to work with a range of stakeholders from non-design disciplines ensuring the effective application of our practice principles.
Planning and prioritisation of multiple projects and resources.
You exhibit UX leadership qualities in Agile environments to ensure UX processes and principles are integrated, understood and practised.
