We're hiring! Finance Assistant (part qualified) - 18 month fixed term contract (with potential for extension).
What does a great MNA and Manual Customer - Strategic Account Finance Assistant do? This is a key role in the Travel Distribution Costs (TDC) team, operating within the Global Financial Operations division. Travel Distribution Costs consist of Travel Agent Incentives (TAI) and Operator Fees, and represents the largest expense incurred by Travelport. The MNA and Manual Customer Finance Assistant is responsible for accounting for the largest Strategic subscriber accounts. All accounting entries are processed including calculating of accruals, payments and loan repayments. Providing information on settlements and disputes and liaising with the appropriate account directors based around the world. The MNA and Manual Customer Finance Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining the Strategic Account ICFR processes and controls, in addition to supporting the ICFR and statutory audit requirements.
The role has primary responsibility for the month end process and associated balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsibilities: -
- Responsible for the timely and accurate payment to the Strategic Subscribers.
- Review new contracts on a regular basis to ensure we have covered all terms relating to the Strategic Subscribers and their payment, comment and feedback to account directors on impractical terms, working toward contract standardization wherever possible
- Liaise daily with the Billing and Assurance department, Sales and Marketing Offices (SMO's) on issues such as rates, calculations and deductions, interpretation of contract terms and correct application to the Operator procedures
- Responsible for all journals of incentive accruals and adjustment journals are posted at month end within the corporate timetable
- Reconcile monthly the incentive liabilities where appropriate ensuring that items are cleared and investigated within the month, report large variances for LEMR pack and SLT reporting.
- Recommend any impairments to loans or upfront payments that need to be made of assets held in the balance sheet relating to Operators
- Maintain accurate filing system as archive documents are requested on a frequent basis Subscriber contracts and Subscriber statement support for future inspection
- Strategic Subscriber related balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage the Strategic Subscriber query mailbox responding to queries in a timely and efficient manner
- Continual process improvement for the TDC area working closely with the TAI, Billing and Assurance team, Director TDC and internal audit on improved reporting and statements to Operators
What we look for/who would prosper in this role? - Part Qualified Accountant or studier (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Knowledge of accruals and pre-payment accounting
- Working knowledge of Oracle ERP
- IT literate, with a good working knowledge of software packages including Excel and Word
- Good team working ability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build effective relationships with other team members, SMO's and Operators
- Excellent time management an d ability to plan own working day.
- Proactive on query resolution
- The enthusiasm and drive to work to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley an advantage
