The HR Strategy Support Officer will play a key role within the Places for Growth programme (PfG). PfG is a key contribution to the Governments high-profile levelling up agenda, bringing departments closer to the communities and businesses we serve. DIT is developing a major second site in Darlington alongside trade and investment offices in Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

The postholder will support the delivery of DITs PfG contributions in these new locations, leading the development and implementation of our outreach strategy across the four offices and supporting with the wider HR PfG Programme strategy and coordination of delivery.

Job description
The PfG HR Strategy Support Officer will support with:

Outreach Outreach activity is to promote DIT and support local interests across our main PfG locations.

This role will: -
-Set the strategy and coordinate outreach activity for the four PfG locations, across the department, ensuring that pockets of activity are identified and aligned with internal and external government policy and messaging
-Act as the main point of contact to strategically coordinate PfG outreach activity, including with cross-government partners and other outreach partners
-Work closely with the Resourcing Team and Talent Teams to support them in raising the profile of DIT in local areas, educational institutions and other organisations. This could include attending events that they organise and need support at.

General - Building networks with other government departments based in DITs four PfG locations to support cross-government collaboration and idea-sharing, and attending relevant cross-government outreach meetings

HR Support

-Support with creating and maintaining a HR PfG Programme Strategy across the four PfG HR Strands (Resourcing, Pay & Relocation, Data & Workforce Planning and Learning & Development), working with and through colleagues in HR
-Ensure that the HR PfG Programme resources and governance processes are fit for purpose, and update and streamline them as required
-Co-ordinate, prepare and draft updates for regular and ad hoc commissions from the PfG programme team and other relevant stakeholders
-Answer queries on PfG HR issues, and supporting with scheduling required meetings (both regular and irregular) to deal with programme work

The postholder will report to a G7 Workforce Transformation Lead within the Workforce Transformation and Employee Relations Team and will work closely with colleagues across HR and Change.

Hybrid Worker

The role will be based in Darlington only.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.
