COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT
The department s purpose is to raise the profile of the organisation and its causes amongst British and international audiences to support MSF s operational, advocacy, recruitment and fundraising activities.
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT AND ASSOCIATION TEAM
The public engagement and association team is housed within the Communications department.
The team s purpose is to run MSF UK s public engagement and association activities, events and communications, in order to ensure the organisation s identity, values, experiences and opinions are successfully communicated to the British public, and to MSF Association members, university and school students, and general supporters in particular, in line with MSF s strategic ambitions.
JOB PURPOSE
The Association is the foundation of MSF. It is a network of current and former employees and volunteers who collectively own the organisation through their membership and ability to vote on matters of internal governance. They make sure that MSF remains true to its purpose, principles and values, and help shape the future of the MSF movement.
Globally, MSF is made up of 25 associations - the MSF UK Association is one of these.
It is the responsibility of the Association and Public Engagement Officer to execute activities, events and communications in support of the MSF UK Association (and to some extent the international associative community of MSF s Operational Centre based in Amsterdam) and to be the driving force in the development of the associative dimension of MSF in the UK.
It is also in the remit of this role to support on the team s public engagement activities and events, in order to ensure MSF s identity, values, experiences and opinions are successfully communicated to the British public in line with the organisation s strategic aims.
Essential knowledge, skills and expertise:
Exceptional organisational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to evaluate and analyse processes, policies and trends, and to strategize, adapt and evolve accordingly
Possessing a strong vision for the purpose and future of the MSF UK Association and wider governance structures, as well as an interest in internal governance matters
Proven ability to write clearly and accurately produce, adapt and proof-read documents with a good attention to detail
Ability to project manage an event from start to finish
Ability and willingness to devise and lead on new projects
Strong networking skills and a proven ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
Computer literate and confident in using most Microsoft Office programmes
Commitment to and understanding of MSF and humanitarian action
Experience in communications, marketing, events and/or membership management
Fluent spoken and written English
Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings (time off in lieu will be given)
