Overview
Billing Specialist/Project Accountant
This role will be responsible for managing the business unit's sales ledger, driving revenue reporting and collaborating with the Account Managers and Project Managers to fully understand project progress and ensure project milestones and time are billed as soon as it is feasible.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
Raising invoices for recurring revenue and project progress promptly and accurately
Recording daily cash receipts and ensuring customer accounts are reconciled
Attend fortnightly revenue review meetings and take responsibility for ensuring project progress is billed promptly
Review billed revenue at the end of each month, accruing any unbilled revenue and releasing previously deferred revenue accurately for monthly reporting
Ensure specific customer billing requirements are met to avoid any potential delay in the customer processing the invoice or making payment when due
Issue customer statements and reminders for payments to ensure invoices are paid when they fall due
Liaise with customers to resolve invoice queries and disputes, chasing overdue payments where necessary
Develop relationships with key customer contacts and project owners
Review, refine and document internal AR processes to maximise efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy in reporting
Raise intercompany invoices as necessary
Job Requirements
Key Skills/Experience:
Previous experience working as a Billing Specialist/Project Accountant involved in activities such as revenue recognition, milestone billing, contractual billing and accrued revenue
Experience of project accounting (highly desirable)
Previous experience or knowledge of Paprika (highly desirable)
Part qualified AAT or equivalent or qualified by experience
Experience of working in a busy Finance department in a commercial business
Understanding of and practical experience of using an accounting and /or ERP system
Meticulous accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills and strong ability to prioritise
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements
Highly proficient in Excel
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Excellent organisational and communication skills
