Job Description
A global manufacturing plant located in Ipswich, Suffolk are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join their team.
This is a permanent position, looking to pay between £35,000 - £43,000 per annum (depending upon experience).
Overview:
You will be reporting into the Supply Chain Manager daily, will secure the supply of parts and services from different sources, in the cost-effective way and using the most practical buying techniques
What does the position involve?
As a Senior Buyer you will be buying materials from suppliers internationally
Purchasing of materials such as raw steel, electrical components, hydraulics, rubber, plastics plus much more
Working closely with all parts of the business to ensure that you understand all of their needs to assist them in establishing opportunities to better their performance
Inputting prices and data into the company MRP Software
Implementing supplier relationship management and always improving the quality of supplier performance and service delivery to lower operational risk
Liaising with the engineering/manufacturing team to achieve improvements, NPI and technology developments, whilst working within the given costs, time and specifications
Analysing market trends and cost opportunities
Actively engage in the resolution of quality issues, working closely with the quality team
Always reviewing suppliers, to minimise costs where possible
Negotiate on prices of commodities daily
Setting up and managing contracts with suppliers, whilst managing the orders & appraisal of allocated suppliers
Form strong relationships with the suppliers so that the company is the customer of choice
Speaking with quality to make sure that suppliers provide products and services as planned
Candidate requirements:
Will have at least 5 years' experience as a Buyer
CIPS/MCIPS certified
Background within a manufacturing environment is essential
Strong negotiation skills
Proficient user of Microsoft programs including excel
Able to prioritise workload to make sure deadlines are met
Ability to analyse data with ease
Experience working on an MRP Software
