Job Title: Senior Scientist Flow Cytometry

Location: Cambridge, UK

About the role

Due to internal progression, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled expert in Flow Cytometry to contribute to Abcam's Flow Cytometry Product Portfolio expansion. The successful candidate will be reporting into the Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry Team Leader within the Characterisation Team and is passionate about validating antibodies to the highest standard.

The Characterisation Team is part of the Antibody Validation and Characterization Group holding a key function in the validation and characterization of new antibodies and new batches of existing products ensuring functionality for our customers. It plays a key role in validating the quality of our products before they are delivered to our customers.

We are looking for an expert in in Flow Cytometry with proven track record of delivering projects with impressive results as well as an ability to teach and mentor others, along with line management responsibility for 2 colleagues. You will be collaborating with other labs across the world on new product development and method standardisation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Ensuring high quality validation of new antibodies.
* Streamline current processes with a focus on continuous improvements along with new and improved methods.
* Communicate clearly with project managers and colleagues across the world providing updates and the necessary documentation.
* Maintain high quality standards within the lab
* Line manage and mentor more junior colleagues, creating an engaging environment.
* Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects to meet timelines.
* Highly effective analytical and problem-solving skills, including excellent attention to detail

About you:

You will be PhD educated in an appropriate subject (or can demonstrate an equivalent level of expertise) with experience in an industry or academia setting, (typically 5 years). You will have extensive practical expertise in Flow Cytometry to include:

* multi-colour experiments for immunophenotyping
* isolation of primary immune cells (murine and human)
* cultivation and treatment of primary immune cells
* use of extra and intracellular staining protocols

In addition, it will be advantageous to have experience managing a small team, experience with unconjugated primary antibodies for Flow Cytometry and worked to ISO9001 quality standards.
