Home working and an office in any of the following locations - Peterborough, Huntingdon, Norwich, Lincoln or Milton Keynes

Anglian Water is an innovative utility company always looking for ways to continue to make sure it's fit for the future. Our Optimisation Team focus on driving efficiencies through smart ways to make the network better.

They are currently looking for an Optimisation Engineer to join their team of Engineers within the Smart Water Strategy team. You will be responsible for delivering a variety of projects from start to finish. This will involve identifying, investigating, and quantifying the benefit, cost and risk of projects. You will lead on ensuring each project is designed and delivered or implemented across the Anglian Water region, making sure you are thinking holistically across the water system by proposing the right solution. You will have the ability to engineer specific and tailored solutions that are cost effective and efficient within agreed timescales and cost constraints utilising the appropriate delivery route.

The role will require you to have water engineering knowledge, preferably with a specialism in a technical or project engineering discipline and consider opportunities and projects across Source to Tap. The role will also require you to be able to demonstrate expertise in a relevant area and therefore lead in one of the following: Abstraction, Treatment, Energy, Water Quality, Maintenance, Hydraulics and Customer Experience. Although roles work across source to tap, there will be a main portfolio in Water Resources and Supply, well as a focus on technical specialisms or project engineering.

Using technical and process experience, you will provide support to the Water Optimisation Team and Water Business Stream in relation to the reduction of operating costs of the water system. The role will enable integration and collaboration across the various Water Sub-Business streams and wider key stakeholder areas

The role will support embedding of new technologies and solutions to facilitate the efficient operation of our system.

What does it take to be an Optimisation Engineer?

  • Strong technical knowledge and operational experience of water assets and systems from Source to tap

  • Strong technical knowledge of analysis, how to use geospatial information and various data modelling tools

  • Specialist or subject matter expert in a technical discipline or project management (as required by portfolios)

  • Proven track record of identifying and delivering projects, preferably in an optimisation or engineering environment

  • Proven financial management skills and ability to control a project budget

  • Strong analytical skills including data manipulation

  • Good understanding of IT systems and applications

  • Ability to think commercially and strategically

  • Excellent communicator at all levels

  • Able to challenge and collaborate constructively

  • Ability to understand and resolve problems quickly tackling cause not symptoms
