Job Description
We are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Care & Custody Business Development team on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Commercial Lead , the Senior Commercial Manager will be based at The Shard, Level 12, 32 London Bridge Street, London, SE1 9SG, and be an integral part of teams working on strategically important opportunities.
The key responsibilities will be leading the commercial element on high quality bids into the public sector to secure new business and growth, with direction and guidance from the Commercial Lead and Bid Directors. This is a proactive role, ensuring Care & Custody is able to respond professionally to convert opportunities to new contracts.
Main Duties
Commercial point of contact, reviewing bid documents, creating innovative solutions, producing cost and pricing models and written responses where required.
Challenge the business's assumptions to deliver a robust solution and price, balancing the need for value for money with risk appetite.
Providing evaluation and assurance through all stages of the procurement and contract lifecycle, utilising sound commercial judgement to make recommendations.
Quantifying and communicating the associated risks within a bid and setting out the consequences of key decisions.
Managing the flow of costing information to support the bid process, ensuring that deadlines are met.
Develop and present commercial solutions to both client and senior management.
Offering commercial support and guidance to colleagues by effective communication of costs and risks.
Build effective working relationships with client representatives to maintain communication channels and address commercial and charging issues and identify value for money initiatives.
Developing financial bid/costing models in line with Best Practice principles.
Identifying and implementing improvements to existing reporting tools and templates.
Participate in client commercial reviews to agree charges and service penalties.

Qualifications
The Senior Commercial Manager must have excellent bid modelling and commercial acumen skills and experience of working in large organisations, with proven ability to work to tight deadlines. Candidates should possess the following:
· Experience in a high level sales/business development role, with a proven track record of target achievement
· Excellent customer relationship skills and dedicated customer focus
· Experience of Central Government / NHS / Police and Crime Commissioner procurement
· Experience of dealing with staffing models and impacts of TUPE from a costing and commercial perspective
· Production of bid models that are clear, well-constructed and in line with best practise principles
· Advanced Excel ability is a must, along with a good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs (Word, Powerpoint, ect)
· Strong Verbal and Written communication skills
· Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
· Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
· Experience in Commercial / Contractual matters
· Must be able to work as part of a wider team and have good negotiating skills with both customers and suppliers
· Excellent problem solving skills
