Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Disability Service Manager who will work as part of a small specialist team within Central's Neuro-Inclusion and Disability Service (NDS), located within our Student Centre.

This post is one of a two-person job share, with responsibility for management of the Disability Service. In this role, you will manage a large caseload of often-complex student work and provide specialist, individually tailored, one-to-one advice and guidance to help students (and other staff working with them) address the barriers to their learning experience as a result of disability, including complex mental health conditions.

The post holder will be expected to foster close working relationships with colleagues across the NDS Team and support services (including Student Advice Service and Counsellor Service) and the wider School, in order to provide a professional and efficient service to students.

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • an understanding of the particular demands of a higher education environment in respect of students with physical and mental health disabilities,
  • demonstrate the ability to make/recommend reasonable adjustments to support individual students.
  • a professional and flexible approach to work, the ability to maintain boundaries, to work calmly under pressure
  • to identify those at risk and to respond in a calm, assistive and practical way.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all individuals regardless of personal characteristics or background. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities, LGBT+, BAME (Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic) backgrounds as they are currently underrepresented within the sector and within Central.

Closing date for receipt of application forms is 9am Tuesday 7 December 2021.

It is anticipated that interviews and assessments will take place on Friday 17 December 2021
