An exciting opportunity has arisen for a *Group Health and Safety Manager *to join our team as we embark on our next phase of development. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Health and Safety function for the Group, ensuring that the highest standards of compliance and outstanding practice are achieved. The post holder will support and develop the Health & Safety strategy, driving continuous improvement and promoting a positive Health and Safety culture throughout the organisation. The post is a multi-site role requiring travel to all our facilities throughout England and it is therefore essential that the post holder possesses a full, clean UK driver's licence.

*Main Duties and Responsibilities*

· Overall responsibility for health & safety compliance of the Group and for ensuring that all staff are aware of the importance of health & safety in the workplace.

· Ensure that the Group keeps up to date with all changes in health & safety legislation and best practice, and that this is promptly communicated to all staff.

· Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health, safety, fire and environmentally safe working practices in the workplace.

· Plan and carry out a rolling programme of internal health & safety compliance audits of all Group locations (including all Disability Support services), report on significant findings and manage action plans through to completion.

· Implement a appropriate risk assessments, manage agreed action plans and implement such additional risk management procedures as may be required.

· Prepare quarterly management reports for, and attend, Group Quality and Health & Safety Committee meetings to evidence Group compliance and continual improvement activities. In conjunction with the Group Quality Managers, prepare and submit an annual Board report on Group health & safety compliance and progress made during the year.

· In conjunction with the Alina Homecare Training Academy, review, develop and deliver training/certification in relation to health & safety that meets statutory requirements and is in line with business needs and accepted risks.

· Maintain an overview of the risk assessment programme completed at Group locations (including all Disability Support services) across the organisation and support managers to create and develop 'person specific / positive risk taking' assessments.

· Work alongside the Manager of any new/re-provided properties / Disability Support services to ensure that all relevant health & safety framework documents are in place so that the service is fully compliant.

· Co-ordinate reporting of RIDDOR incidents to the HSE, and undertake investigations as appropriate into these or other safety related incidents as required.

· Liaise with the Group Finance Director and the Group's Insurers/Brokers to facilitate the investigation of any claims, ensuring that required records are made available and lessons are learned to reduce future risks.

· Maintain a comprehensive central library of health & safety resources, policies and documentation relating to all offices and services.

· Liaise with the Operational Directors and Branch Managers to ensure contractors' RAMS are current and correct for any planned and programmed maintenance.

· Liaise with Housing Associations and Local Authorities compliance teams

· Support and guide the business in the deployment of any new health & safety technology initiatives.

Job Knowledge and Previous Experience

· Understand the application of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other legislation relevant to the Alina Homecare Group

· Previous experience in a similar multi-site role/environment.

· Experience of risk management that takes a balanced approach to risk and promotes positive risk taking.

· Knowledge of the Care Quality Commission's regulatory framework and prior experience of working with vulnerable or disabled people would be an advantage.

· Experience of writing health & safety and preferably other policies relevant to the health and social care sector.

Skills

· Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach.

· The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a wide range of employees, stakeholders and third parties, both by phone and face to face.

· Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and strong teamwork skills are essential

· Skilled in assessing and managing risks

· Professional and pragmatic in their approach to dealing with issues and employees

· The ability to coach and mentor internal health & safety champions to continually improve the health & safety culture across the organisation.

· Appreciation of confidentiality and discretion

· Resilient self-starter able to bring discipline and leadership to health & safety compliance within the organisation.

*Competencies*

· IT literate with comprehensive understanding of MS Office programmes to include, Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook are essential

· *Job Purpose: *Perform the 'Health & Safety Competent Person' role across the organisation and ensure all Alina Homecare Group ("Group") locations and activities operate safely and are compliant with relevant Health & Safety Legislation, the Health & Social Care Act and other internal or external health & safety criteria, including 'best practice' wherever possible. Provide support and balanced advice to colleagues in pursuit of these aims.

· *Salary: between *40k-45k - depending on experience and qualifications

· *Annual Leave: *25 days annual leave + 8 Bank Holiday days.

· *Working Hours**: *08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday (37.50 hours per week)
