Job Description

A prestigious Aerospace company is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their busy and expanding engineering facility.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring operational best practice is maintained at all times across the company. Core responsibility for Production, Engineering and associated support activities.

  • Lead and manage all operational activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all key operational deliverables.
  • Maintain awareness of latest manufacturing methodology and evaluate appropriate technology for the business where pertinent.
  • Oversee cost effective procurement of applicable third party costs and services. i.e. tooling and machine maintenance.
  • Thorough root cause analysis of any issues with associated robust corrective actions.
  • Identify, articulate and implement relevant performance improvements as appropriate.
  • Maintain a suite of accurate, timely and fit for purpose performance measures.

Key Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Experienced manager with a proven track record of achievement gained within a similar organization.
  • Long standing technical engineering background with detailed machining knowledge and experience.
  • Familiarity with managing a fluid small batch production schedule.
  • Exposure to a broad range of components and materials within a manufacturing context.
  • Detailed experience gained in an AS9100 environment or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of providing cost effective engineering solutions.

Desirable

  • All embracing internal/external customer liaison skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of best practice MRP methodology.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma processes and methods.
  • Familiarity of leading step change projects with targeted financial payback.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with latest programming software.

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm & Friday 7.30am - 12.30pm (39 hours)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience (Competitive)

25 days paid holiday per year plus paid bank holiday, pension and Life assurance.
