The Science department is committed to inspiring every student to build and embrace a passion for exploring the infinite possibilities of Science.
The school encourages the students to embrace the growth mindset and build up their skills and knowledge from the foundations previously laid out so that they can grow from not being able to do something yet, into being able to do something better than before.
There are seven specialist Science teachers. At KS3 and GCSE, all the department teachers teach the AQA Biology, Chemistry and Physics exam specifications. The school also offer Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A level. The exam board for all three sciences is also AQA. Enrichment activities throughout the academic year include a Science club, targeted intervention sessions for Year 11 students, a Science fair and competitions during British Science week, trips to STEM events, enrichment events for A level students, participation in the annual Salter's Festivals of Chemistry, and presentations by leading professionals who work within the scientific sector.
